Gyukyoku Japanese Restaurant & Cocktail Bar: Discover The Art Of Yakiniku

Well one thing is for sure, Japanese flavors have a reputation for elevating your dinning experience to a different level. In October 2023 an authentic Japanese restaurant and bar opened in the heart of Kuala Lumpur. Located on the roof top of award-winning boutique hotel STEG Kuala Lumpur which won Most Stylish Boutique Hotels 2023 by APAC Asia.

Gyukyoku is Japanese-Owned and managed, Head Chef and head bartender are both from Japan with many years of experience in the craft. The designer of the space is also a famous Japanese designer. 

Every detail matters and it all speaks to the theme of Urban Within The City. The designer has done a fascinating job melting both modern Japanese and tropical Malaysian into one place. The spacious rooftop is railed with a glass walls through which you can enjoy KL’s astonishing view as far as the eye can see and yes, the beautiful skyline and the KLCC twin towers are at full visibility too! The bar is an open rooftop concept. The dining area and VIP room are spacious and airconditioned allowing you to enjoy a pleasant dining experience with premium grilled wagyu without the smoky odor.

The Restaurant: Juicy Yakiniku BBQ awaits.
The menu revolves around the traditional Japanese cuisine Omakase and the popular Japanese Yakiniku BBQ.
The fun twist in your favorite BBQ is that you can grill your wagyu on infrared grills which were exclusively imported from Japan. This way the meat will be cooked perfectly with no burns or smoke taste. The water cooled aluminum in these special grills ensures that every inch is grilled to perfection with no excess oil which makes for a healthy, juicy grilled meat.

Head chef, Daisuke has 13 years of experience in Japanese Cuisine from Minnesota, USA and 5 years of experience in Asia in Japan and Hong Kong. At Gyukyoku he’s curated his special recipes and sauces that can quite literally blast your taste buds. Here are recommendations off of the menu to try on your visit to Gyukyoku: Premium Wagyu Beef or the Beef Premium Skirt Steak and the Sashimi. There are also other options for chicken, seafood and salads.

Head Bartender Osamu San has 20 years of experience in Food & Beverage in Tokyo, in Ginza & Roppongi to be specific. Many exciting cocktails to indulge in while you enjoy the view and the house music. Expect your cocktails to be fresh with bright flavors of seasonal fruit.
There’s Mangosteen Saketini, Passion Fruit Saketini and the refreshing Coffee Mojito, to name a few.

Once you arrive at the entrance of STEG Hotel, turn right then walk through a yellow painted door and take the lift up to the rooftop!
